Our Network

Fluency has invested heavily in a state- of-the-art network that spans Edinburgh and London. Fluency operate two main points of presence (PoPs) in world-class, carrier-neutral datacentres, as well as a secondary hosting PoP in a private facility in central Edinburgh.

Reliability

The network uses tried and tested technologies to provide a very high level of resiliency. As well as having geographically diverse PoPs, Fluency operates full N+N redundancy with its core routing equipment, and all the Layer 2 switching equipment is contracted to a four hour repair and replacement service with Cisco.

Geographical Diversity

With a focus on business-class service, the Fluency network has a level of reliability built in that far exceeds many multi-million pound service providers. Our main Edinburgh to London link is resilient to localised problems, as it is provided by two diverse routes down the UK. In addition, Fluency operates a private site in Edinburgh with connectivity to both of the datacentre PoPs. This means in the unlikely event of a failure on the main-link, traffic is automatically routed via a backup route.

Transit & Peering

Outward Internet connectivity is provided by no less than two providers at each main PoP, with additional direct connectivity to important partner networks. Fluency operates private interconnects with all its carrier partners, to bolster business critical services such as PSTN voice access.

Fluency is a full LIR member of RIPE, with both IPv4 and IPv6 allocations. We operate our own Autonomous System (AS56595), which provides our customers with reliable internet connectivity, and keeps Fluency completely independent of any one provider.  We are also members of LONAP, providing direct access to other major UK and International networks such as BBC, Akamai and Google.
